Change how long each slide shows
Every slide shows for 3 seconds. To change it, right-click CreateSlidesfromVideo v2.1.cmd and pick Edit.
On line 5, change the 3 in SECONDS_PER_FRAME=3 to the number of seconds you want, then save (Ctrl+S) and close it.
Windows says it’s blocked
If Windows shows a blue box saying it protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway.
If there’s no Run anyway, right-click CreateSlidesfromVideo v2.1.cmd, pick Properties, tick Unblock at the bottom, and click OK. Then drag the video onto it again.
Good to know
- Most video files work: MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WMV and more. A DVD’s
.VOBfiles should be turned into one MP4 first, with a free program like HandBrake. - The slides video keeps the original format and sound, so it plays anywhere the original did.
- Rather not convert anything? The Kosher Slides Player plays any video as slides right in your browser.
Who made it
The first version (2023) was written by R’ Aharon B“Sh Einhorn of Shikun Skver and shared on Ivelt by דרייטצעך, in the thread גרינגע אופן צו צעהאקן ווידיאוס פאר סליידס. Since v1.1 I’ve kept it up to date. It runs on FFmpeg, the free video toolkit (GPL). The zip includes its license and where to get its source code.
Changes
- v2.1 (Nov 2, 2026): videos can be in any folder, file names with a
!work, ffmpeg updated to 9.0.2, and the download is a third of the size (ffprobe isn’t needed any more). - v2.0 (Apr 10, 2025): steadier timing for videos that came out too fast or too slow, several videos at once, and clearer progress messages.
- v1.1 (Oct 13, 2023): set the time per slide in seconds instead of frames.
- v1.0 (May 23, 2023): first version.
